If any of the following developments or conditions arise during normal operations, construction, or Shops activity, or if you have questions regarding these areas of compliance, please contact  Environmental Compliance & Sustainability.


  1. Process or Sanitary Wastewater discharge drain that may not be properly connected to a sanitary sewer. This includes existing, modified or new drain installations.
  2. Non-Sanitary Wastewater discharge (including process, laboratory chemicals and stormwater run-off) connections connected to a septic system without a posted permit.
  3. Any non-stormwater discharge that is routed to a stormwater outfall, ground surface, or surface water without a posted permit, including chemical, material, spills/releases, waste, or wastewater.
  4. Any visible sheen, suspicious discoloration, or odor of surface water, grounds or vegetation.
  5. Suspicious or unusual presence of materials or chemicals anywhere on CU-owned or administered property.
  6. New or modified processes that produce chemical wastes or emissions to air or water that have not been reviewed/approved by ECOS or EH&S.
  7. Construction stormwater discharges that do not have a posted Permit and Pollution Prevention Plan.
  8. Temporary or permanent, above or below ground fuel storage tanks that have not been reviewed by ECOS.
  9. Outdoor oil or chemical containment systems that are exposed to storm water and have not been reviewed by ECOS.
