The Mission of ECOS
ECOS is the central corporate office that ensures that all university operations comply with regulations that protect the air, water, and other natural resources. ECOS leads the campus operations Sustainability Initiative. The ECOS mission is to:
- Establish and lead programs that develop, measure, and continuously improve Cornell's performance in meeting or exceeding regulatory standards;
- Lead the campus operations Sustainability Initiative to reduce the university's environmental footprint and enhance our local communities;
- Partner with other Cornell units to maximize operating efficiencies while meeting requirements and furthering the university's voluntary environmental initiatives; and
- Collaborate with academic and local groups to enhance Cornell's environmental leadership and reputation.
